Network Access Control

Fordham Network Access Control (NAC) is a web based security system that enforces authentication and security policy compliance on all devices seeking access to the University's public network, both wired and wireless. Fordham NAC allows IT to monitor proper use of the University network and ensure it is a safe and virus-free environment for our students, faculty and staff.

Upon attempting to connect to the University's public network, users will be prompted to authenticate using their AccessIT ID and password. Please note that ONLY current students, staff and faculty members are allowed access and will be able to authenticate.

Once successfully authenticated, Windows users will then be required to run a Java-based compliance scan that will ensure that their computers meet the Fordham IT Security policy requirements. These requirements are:
  • Windows Automatic Updates Service is Enabled
  • Antivirus Software is Installed, Enabled and Up-to-Date
  • Firewall Software is Installed and Enabled
Once all requirements are met, users will then be granted full access to the University's public network.
