POSITION:                Computer Lab Assistant  (GRADUATE STUDENT ONLY)


Supervisor:                Sandra Turner



Students working in the GSSS Computer lab at Lincoln Center are there to answer questions and resolve issues relating to computer programs and files and keep the equipment running.  They are expected to provide a high level of customer service, demonstrate exemplary interpersonal skills and maintain a professional attitude at all times.

  • Student workers must be registered Fordham students in good academic standing during the semester of their appointment.
  • Student should be able to work 20hrs per week



  • Provide assistance to faculty and students in the use of computer programs
  • Provide assistance to faculty for file transfers and removal
  • Monitor that no one is eating or drinking in the lab
  • Check that computer and monitor are working
  • Check that virus definitions have been updated in the past week
  • Check that printers are working
  • Check that there is enough paper in the printers
  • Check that the printer card reader is working
  • Check that LCD projector is working
  • Check that Deep Freeze is turned on after any operations that involve turning it off
  • Install Windows updates on lab machines



·         Must have a working knowledge of: Windows, MS Word, E-mail, Internet and Excel

-          Also desirable but not necessary: PowerPoint, Endnote or SPSS

·         Must be able to install or remove software.

·         Must be able to remove files from hard drive for faculty.

·         Must be able to copy files onto hard drive for faculty.


  • For the 2009-2010 academic year, the salary will be $15 per hour.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
