Never underestimate the advantage of home turf.

As of Oct. 4, the Rams have an 8-1 record for games at Jack Coffey Field under Coach Joe Moorhead, and Moorhead is 12-5, becoming the fastest head coach in school history to rack up 12 wins. The Oct. 4 home game was also Fordham’s second straight sellout on Coffey Field with 7,751 in attendance. (Capacity is 7,000 but standing-room seats were sold, allowing fans to stand on the sidelines behind the Lehigh bench and sit in the baseball grandstand.)

While Rams quarterback Mike Nebrich acknowledged that it is “cool” to be a part of a long Ram history, he said “This team just wants to create its own legacy and show what the 2013 version of Fordham Rams is all about.” On Oct. 7, Nebrich was named National Performer and National Quarterback of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), National Co-Offensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network and Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for his Oct. 4 performance.

Regarding a championship season, Moorhead said the team is taking it one week at a time and does expect success. “We can’t look back, we can’t look ahead, we have to concentrate on the opponent of the week. We’ve got to be very myopic in our approach and just have a singleness of purpose.”

“To get to the top of the mountain, you’ve got to take one step at a time,” he said.

The NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s Join the Huddle Tour was on display before the game in parking lot A, and along with it, the Lombardi Trophy (pictured above).

The Rams’ next home game is on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. against Holy Cross.
