Kirk Bingaman, Ph.D., GRE,
associate professor of pastoral counseling, presented “The Promise of Neuroplasticity for Pastoral Care and Counseling,” at the Fall 2012 conference of New Directions in Pastoral Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. The paper was published in Pastoral Psychology.

Helen M. Crohn, DSW, GSS,
assistant clinical professor of social work, was chosen for the Fulbright Specialist Roster for 2013 to 2018.

John A. Fortunato, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management, presented two papers on the topic of sponsorship at the Sport and Communication Sport Summit in Austin, TX in February.

Greta Gilbertson, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of sociology and anthropology, published “Citizenship” in the Encyclopedia of Global Migration (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013). 

Michael Gillan, Ph.D., ADM,
associate vice president for Fordham Westchester and co-chair of University Veterans Affairs, was appointed by county executives Astorino and Odell to the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Investment Board.

Stephen Grimm, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of philosophy, received a $40,000 grant from the Luce Foundation to support an ongoing interdisciplinary initiative, “Varieties of Understanding: New Perspectives from Psychology, Philosophy, and Theology.”

Nicholas Johnson, LAW,
professor of law, testified during a full Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 on Feb. 27.

Ying Liu, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of psychology, published “Item Response Modeling of Presence-Severity Items: Application to Measurement of Patient-Reported Outcomes” in Applied Psychological Measurement.

Ross McLaren, A&S,
artist-in-residence in the Department of Visual Arts, had his films featured in The 8 Fest on Feb. 8 through 10 in Toronto, Canada.

Philip M. Napoli, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center, was named to the editorial board of Communication Yearbook.  He was also named to the Telecom and Internet Policy Task Force of the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council.

Christiana Peppard, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology and science, had her first two TED-Ed lessons on “Fresh Water” debut on Feb. 12 and 14.

Francis Petit, Ed.D., BUS,
associate dean and director of Executive Programs, presented “What Can Executive MBA Deans Learn from Dr. Deming?” at The 19th Annual International Deming Research Seminar on Feb. 26.

Mary G. Powers, Ph.D., A&S,
professor emeritus of sociology, published “Assimilation, Integration, Incorporation” in the Encyclopedia of Global Human Migration (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013).

Andrew Rasmussen, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, published, “Onset of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depression Among Refugees and Voluntary Migrants to the United States” in the Journal of Traumatic Stress.

Laura Stout Sosinsky, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of psychology, and Se-Kang Kim Ph.D., A&S, associate professor of psychology, published “A Profile Approach to Child Care Quality, Quantity and Type of Setting: Parent Selection of Infant Child Care Arrangements” in Applied Developmental Science.

Jay C. Wade, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, was co-editor of a special issue of Psychology of Men & Masculinity on research on the health and well-being of African American men and wrote “Introduction: Masculinity, Identity, and the Health and Well-Being of African American Men” for the special issue.
