Who gave it: The Louisville Institute, a Lilly Endowment-funded program
supporting the study of American religious institutions

How much: $25,000

Who got it: Thomas M. Beaudoin, Ph.D., associate professor of practical theology
in the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education; and
J. Patrick Hornbeck II, Ph.D., assistant professor of theology in the Graduate School
of Arts and Sciences

What for: An 18-month study of deconversion in Roman Catholicism.

Who gave it: The estate of William A. Robba, FCRH ’50

How much: $42,000

Who got it: Fordham College at Rose Hill

What for: Renovation of the Rose Hill physics laboratory


Who gave it: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, through flow-down funds from the U.S. Department of Education and the European Union’s Fund
for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE)

How much: $90,000 over four years

Who got it: Marciana Popescu, Ph.D., and Shirley Gatenio Gabel, Ph.D.,
associate professors of social work in the Graduate School of Social Service

What for: To partner with SIUC in establishing an International Human Rights Certificate of Social work.


Who gave it: The Ford Foundation

How much: $50,000

Who got it: Philip Napoli, Ph.D., associate professor of communications and
media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center

What for: To support McGannon Center research and mobilization activities
on behalf of digital inclusion.

Who gave it: The New York Women’s Bar Association

How much: $100,000

Who got it: Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice

What for: For student fellowships to research domestic violence and
create education clinics for domestic violence survivors.
