Kristof Calls Gender Parity a
21st Century Moral Challenge

In the 19th century, the central moral challenge was slavery; in the 20th century, it was totalitarianism; but in this century the issue dominating moral debate is gender inequity, journalist Nicholas Kristof said at Fordham Law School on Feb. 22.

At an event sponsored by Fordham’s Leitner Center for International Law and Justice, Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, showed slides of extraordinary women from developing countries who have transformed their lives through international aid and intervention.

Rapaccioli Named Dean of Business Faculty

Donna Rapaccioli, Ph.D., dean of Fordham University’s College of Business Administration (CBA), has been named dean of the faculty of business. She will continue her role as dean of CBA and assume direct responsibility for a unified business faculty that also serves the Graduate School of Business Administration (GBA), effective July 1.

Fordham’s Center for International Policy Studies (CIPS) has launched a research unit to help promote social justice in developing and developed nations around the world.

Nancy Busch, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the University’s chief research officer, announced the launch of the Research Unit on Social Justice and Policy on Feb. 18 at a joint Fordham/UNICEF conference on global economic recovery, held on the Lincoln Center campus.

CBA Alumnus
Makes Gift to Help
Military Families
with Tuition

For Greg Summers (CBA ’78), a trip to Fort Benning, Ga., in 2007 sealed his decision to give back to his alma mater.

His son, Greg Summers Jr., had just completed airborne training with the U.S. Army, and had flown to Georgia to celebrate at a steakhouse with 12 of his jump school classmates.

“I went to dinner with these young people and was extremely impressed. Most of them had some college already, and some of them had families,” Summers said.
