Generosity Shines at 2010 Founder’s Dinner

It was a night to honor stars and to bless Fordham’s lucky stars, as the University celebrated its ninth annual Founder’s Award Dinner on March 22 at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria.

The annual fundraising event, which benefits the Fordham Founder’s Presidential Scholarship Fund, raised $2 million, recognized the University’s 12 presidential scholars and honored three accomplished alumni. The 2010 Founder’s Award recipients were Maurice J. “Mo” Cunniffe, FCRH ’54; Mario J. Gabelli, CBA ’65; and Regina M. Pitaro, FCRH ’76.

Innovations at FCLS Seek to Build Presence, Update Brand

Isabelle Frank, Ph.D., knows that they are out there.

“They” are nontraditional students, those who may have completed only a year or two of college, or who may have postponed higher education on account of a good job or family obligations.

Frank, dean of Fordham College of Liberal Studies (FCLS), is on a mission to reshape the adult students’ college through new programming, pointed outreach and, perhaps, a new name that more accurately reflects its focus on continuing education.

Ghanaian Entrepreneur Shares Story of Success

A Ghanaian-born entrepreneur visiting the Rose Hill campus on March 25 discussed how she found success in America.

Anna Kwakyewaah Pollard, who owns a medical supply firm in San Diego, gave her presentation at the close of Africa Week 2010. The festival included a health fair, film screening, lectures and performances that showcased African culture.

Fordham Airs Rarities from Munn Collection

For the first time, Fordham has put on display in the William D. Walsh Family Library a sizeable portion of the Charles Allen Munn Collection of Revolutionary War artifacts, memorabilia and Americana.

Some 50 drawings, broadsides, diaries and letters from the collection—including one lengthy military diary written by George Washington—will be on display in the library’s Exhibition Hall through July.
