Embracing Diversity:
Fordham Community Promotes Cross-Cultural Exchange

"We don’t ‘tolerate’ diversity, we actively respect and love people,” said Phil Florio, S.J., assistant vice president for campus ministry. “That’s the meaning of Christian community.”

This was no homily delivered at Sunday night Mass. Father Florio was speaking of the University’s response to several recent bias-related incidents on both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses in which racial and homophobic slurs were written in public spaces and, in one case, on the door of a student’s room in a residence hall.

University Honors Fordham Founders
at Annual Gala

As New York City showed signs of an early spring, the Fordham community assembled on March 26 to celebrate its own transformations, and those who make them possible.

Students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and friends of the University gathered at the 11th annual Founder’s Award Dinner, in the Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom, to pay tribute to Fordham’s most devoted benefactors and their beneficiaries.

for 2010-2011

The 2010-2011 academic year saw many innovations and new partnerships
in graduate and professional education at Fordham. There were updates and changes in degree offerings across the University, ranging from the development of an online master’s in social work to the launch of four new master’s programs in business, all of them attuned to new market demands.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is co-sponsoring a much-anticipated Sustained Dialogue event, “Turning Away From Hate,” on April 18 and 19, an evening with T.J. Leyden, a former skinhead who now speaks on college campuses about turning away from hate.
