Fordham University Statement

On September 20 and 21, news reports announced that the attorney of a Fordham student intended to file suit against the New Yorker Hotel Management Co., Inc., Ramada Worldwide, Rev. Moon's Unification Church and Educational Housing Services, Inc., regarding bed bug bites the student had received at the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan.

The University does not place students in hotels, nor does it have any relationship with Educational Housing Services, Inc. Early news reports that depicted the New Yorker as University housing, or University sanctioned housing, were incorrect.  Fordham University had no role in placing this student in the New Yorker Hotel.

Members of our professional staff have reached out to this student, and we have since found housing for the student.

Founded in 1841, Fordham is the Jesuit University of New York, offering exceptional education distinguished by the Jesuit tradition to approximately 15,600 students in its four undergraduate colleges and its six graduate and professional schools. It has residential campuses in the Bronx, Manhattan and Westchester, and the Louis Calder Center Biological Field Station in Armonk, N.Y.
