Mario Monti To Discuss European Competition

NEW YORK — European Commissioner of Competition Mario Monti, who is responsible for the European Union’s antitrust and mergers policy, will speak about EC competition policy at Fordham University on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 11:50 a.m. in Pope Auditorium on the Lincoln Center campus, 113 W. 60th St. Monti’s lecture is part of the 29th Annual Conference on International Antitrust Law & Policy, a two-day event sponsored by the School of Law. This year’s conference focuses on international antitrust policy, substantive standards for mergers, antitrust and the courts, and antitrust on the Pacific Rim. Speakers include: Timothy J. Muris, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission; Charles A. James, assistant attorney general for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.; Frédéric Jenny, vice president for the French Competition Council.
